IPL 2021 Final: List of all premiere league titles won by CSK, KKR

MS Dhoni-led CSK has won the IPL title thrice and have made a remarkable comeback after putting on a dismal show in the 2020 season in UAE,

New Delhi: The IPL 2021 final is finally here. The summit clash will see MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings clash with Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday.

MS Dhoni-led CSK made a remarkable comeback this year and some fearless cricket from the franchise has seen Dhoni’s men reach the finals.

Moving to KKR, Eoin Morgan’s side was completely down and out in the India leg as the side had won just two games out of seven. However, travelling to the UAE brought about a change in fortunes.

Ahead of the final match, here’s a list of all premiere league wins by both the sides: 

1. IPL Final, CSK vs Mumbai Indians (2010): 

CSK won its first IPL title in the year 2010 when by defeating Mumbai Indians by 22 runs. Suresh Raina knocked an unbeatable score of 57 runs in just 35 balls, eventually winning the player of the match.  CSK defended its score of  169-runs comfortably, restricting MI to just 146/9 in 20 overs.

2. IPL Final, CSK vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (2011): CSK won the IPL trophy twice in consecutive years became the first team in IPL history to do so. CSK turned the final against RCB into a win by 58 runs on the back of Murali Vijay’s knock of 95 runs.

3. IPL Final, CSK vs KKR (2012): KKR with the stunning performance in the IPL 2012, made it to the finals for the first time. In the only final contested between the two teams, KKR emerged as winners by five wickets in the final. It was on Manvinder Bisla’s 89 run-knock as KKR chased down CSK’s target of 190/3.

4. IPL Final, Kings XI Punjab (Now Punjab Kings) vs KKR (2014): KKR maintained its good record of chasing big scores in the tournament while the 2014 finals of the IPL. KKR managed to chase down 200 runs with three wickets on the back of Manish Pandey’s memorable knock of 94 runs.

5. IPL Final, Sunrisers Hyderabad vs CSK (2018): All credit of the 2018 IPL win of CSK goes to Shane Watson’s astonishing score-chase as he played an unbeatable inning of 117 runs off 57 balls. CSK made its win by 8 wickets and nine spare balls.
