New Delhi: Despite Virat Kohli’s second IPL ton this season, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost to defending champions Gujarat Titans and were pushed out of the tournament. Shubman Gill scored 104* off 52 as GT chased down 198 in style and RCB’s fanbase was left heartbroken once again. RCB fans enjoyed Virat’s seventh IPL century in the first inning but the game did not end as they would have hoped.
While Kohli scored runs, RCB fell 15-20 runs short of a good total in Bengaluru as no one else could score big along with him and the bowlers could not pick quick wickets to push GT on the backfoot.

In the game, Virat and Faf du Plessis had a slow start but escalated after a couple of overs. While Virat went on to play till the end and score 101* off 61, Michael Bracewell scored 26 off 16 and Anuj Rawat hit 23* off 15 with him. Noor Ahmed picked two wickets for GT while Rashid Khan stood to the ocassion and ended up with the figures of 24/1.
Along with Gill’s ton, Vijay Shankar scored 53 off 35 setting the stage for the chase. Mohammed Siraj picked two wickets while Harshal Patel bowled well inititally, but no one was spared by Gill in the death overs.
The Titans will now face Chennai Super Kings in the Qualifier game on May 23.
