New Delhi: Former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif has applauded Virat Kohli after the latter dropped an impressive performance in the ongoing IPL 2024. According to Kaif, Kohli has displayed exceptional exuberance to go into a place where he has become untouchable by any bowler.

In an exclusive one-to-one discussion with Star Sports, Kaif has compared Kohli’s unassailable form in this year’s IPL to that of a monk in deep meditation, undeterred by the outside world. “When a hermit goes to the Himalayas, he is in a different zone when he is meditating. Nothing distracts him. Whether there is a loud noise, someone shouts or cries, it doesn’t make a difference. Virat Kohli has reached that zone.”

Kaif added, “He is not seeing the scorecard and is just in his zone and concentrating. He knows the intent with which he needs to play no matter which bowler, whether it’s a fast bowler or a spinner, is in front of him. No matter which bowler comes, he reached a zone where there is no match-up.”

Kohli in IPL 2024

Kohli is the highest run-getter in this year’s IPL and the current orange cap holder. It is partly Kohli’s brilliance with the bat that RCB is still in the hunt for playoffs. Virat Kohli has scored 661 runs this season after 13 matches at a strike rate of 155.16 with an impressive average of 66.10.

Virat Kohli’s versatility in batting is shown in the remarkable adaptability that the 35-year-old right-hander possesses. In the game against CSK, Kohli was dismissed by Mustafizur by a slower bouncer. In the very next game, Kohli started to step out of the crease to thwart the looming danger of bouncers of Kagiso Rabada. These minute changes speaks volumes about any player performing consistently at the highest level of cricket.

RCB will play their last game against CSK in a do-or-die match which will end the hopes for qualification for either of them. If RCB are to qualify for the playoffs, Virat Kohli will need to step up and take the proceedings in his own hands. Now with the absence of Will Jacks, Kohli’s performance becomes even more pertinent.
