‘Not playing for 5 months was frustrating…’: Ravindra Jadeja opens up about his surgery, recovery (WATCH)

New Delhi: Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is making a comeback in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after undergoing major knee surgery. Before the international comeback, he played a Ranji Trophy game to prove his match fitness. BCCI shared a video where the cricketer can be seen talking about his recovery and the feeling of wearing the Indian jersey again.

Jadeja started by saying that he is excited to wear the Indian jersey after more than five months. He added that being out of the game was frustrating. Talking about the injury, he said that he was not feeling comfortable with the knee but having surgery before or after the T20 World Cup was the decision to take. He said that the doctor advised him to go for the surgery before the World Cup.

The cricketer shared that the period after the surgery was tough as he had to undergo rehab and training continuously. Ravindra Jadeja missed the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and about that he said that he had thoughts about being there and such thoughts motivated him.

He credited the physiotherapist and the trainer at NCA for giving him the time for a speedy recovery. He added that they used to come for his sessions even on Sundays and they motivated him by saying that he has to do it for the nation and not just for himself.

Talking about the first-class game for Saurashtra after recovery, he said that going in sunlight after a long time felt weird and the first day for tough. But the game have him confidence that he is fit to play a Test match. In the game, he picked a wicket in the first inning and went on to take seven wickets in the second. With the bat, Jadeja scored 15 and 25 in two innings as Tamil Nadu beat his side.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy will begin in Nagpur on February 9. India will play four Test matches against Australia and is a crucial series from the qualification point-of-view for the WTC finals.
