Wrestler Sushil Kumar continues to be on the run, Delhi Police on the hunt

Many teams of Delhi Police are conducting raids in parts of Haryana and Punjab to find his whereabouts.

New Delhi: Absconding Olympian Sushil Kumar, wanted in connection with the Chhatrasal Stadium brawl that led to the death of a wrestler named Sagar Rana continues to escape the police net. The alleged murder case looms as a big blot on the wrestler’s career as he brought immense glory to the nation, by winning 2 Olympic medals, the only Indian to do so.

Earlier, a leading Hindi daily reported that he was arrested by a team of Delhi Police from Punjab.

Reports said that the wrestler along with his ‘right hand’ man Ajay Kumar from Punjab were arrested from Bhatinda by a police team and were about to be brought to Delhi for further interrogation.

Many teams of Delhi Police are conducting raids in parts of Haryana and Punjab to find his whereabouts. According to reports, Sushil Kumar has been changing his location every few days, making it difficult for police to trace his location.

The Delhi Police has already announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for information leading to Sushil Kumar’s arrest and reward of Rs 50,000 for arrest of his associate Ajay Kumar.

The Olypmic medalist wrestler Sushil Kumar has been on the run after the physical confrontation led to death of wrestler Sagar Rana.

Earlier, a Delhi court also refused to grant anticipatory bail to the wrestler, who brought immense glory to the nation. The court said that he looks to be prima facie the main conspirator and allegations against him are serious in nature.

Chhatrasal Stadium brawl that led to death of wrestler Sagar Rana

Wrestler Sagar Rana died, while two of his friends Sonu and Amit Kumar got injured, after they were allegedly assaulted by Sushil Kumar and other wrestlers on May 4 night, at the stadium premises in the national capital.

A Delhi Court had issued non-bailable warrants against Sushil Kumar and six others. This came days after a lookout notice was issued against the wrestler in the case.
