New Delhi: The viewers of Tokyo Olympics freaked out when a German Judo athlete named Martyna Trajdos was shaken and then slapped by her coach prior to her bout with Hungary’s Szofi Ozbas on Tuesday. While the two arrived for the bout, Martyna’s coach Claudiu Pusa dropped his bag, violently shook the German judo participant and slapped her twice.

This act of her coach didn’t go well down with the viewers and sports enthusiasts and the act went viral within a few minutes. However, Trajdos wasn’t at all affected by this and recognized it as a boost up from her coach before the her bout.

Even though netizen were offended by coach Claudiu Pusa’s act of slapping his player, Martyna Trajdos has effusive words to say for her coach. She justified the coach’s action, saying it was a mere act to fire up the player before competition as the coaches are expected to do. She mentioned it as a ‘ritual’ that she chose for herself, prior to her bout.

Though the ‘fire up’ didn’t seem to work out for her as she lost the round of 32 bout and crashed out of the games.

Later, she took to Instagram and wrote in a post, “I wish I could have made a different headline today. As I already said that’s the ritual which I chose pre-competition ! My coach is just doing what I want him to do to fire me up!”
