PSL: Pollard smashes 3 sixes in an over, Afridi loses cool; both engage in heated fight (VIDEO)

Shaheen Afridi was bowling the second last over of tournament. As Pollard got cracking & smashed 3 sixes in Afridi’s over, the duo were seen getting into war of words on the field.

New Delhi: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) play-offs started in Lahore recently with opening face-off between Lahore Qalandars & Multan Sultans. The first qualifier of tournament garnered much attention but it also had its share of controversies.

Two players – legendary West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard & Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi got into a heated altercation on the field allegedly over some big hits & boundaries by the former.

Shaheen, usually the calm & cool Pakistani speedster, lost his cool after he got a strong beating by Pollard in second last over of the match.

In the 19th over of Multan’s innings, Kieron Pollard hit 3 sixes on Lahore skipper Shaheen’s balls. And, subsequently what followed was a heated exchange between the duo – Pollard & Afridi. Both were seen yelling at each other.

With Pollard displaying some clinical batting skills, the Multan Sultans sailed into the next stage of game & have also been marked as among the top favourites of tournament.

How the heated exchange broke out

Both could be seen getting furious at each other and having a heated exchange before settling down. Pollard was chatting with helmet on while Afridi too could be seen shouting. While Afridi walks past, Pollar continues his chatter, leaving the latter infuriated even more.

Shaheen Afridi then looks back & gives the West Indian a death stare and then moves on.


A lot many netizens were baffled & perplexed to see the conduct of two players on field. Many of the cricket fans advised them to maintain sportsman spirit and keep their heads cool on the field.

At last, Multan Sultans were declared victorious. They sealed their spot in the next round by securing 84-run victory.
