RCB vs CSK: Off-Field controversy makes the win a bittersweet experience for Bangalore

Many women were also complaining on X (formerly Twitter) about the way they had been manhandled and mistreated by the RCB fans.

New Delhi: RCB has again come under the scanner and scrutiny of fans and experts post their match against CSK. Although RCB managed to win the game, the post-match controversy between the fans of the two sides has left a bitter aftertaste over the entire win. Moreover, the RCB players were criticised for not shaking hands with Mahendra Singh Dhoni who in all probability was playing his last game.

On a night which should have been shared with jubilation and respect towards each other, the ugly side of fan wars became the centre of attention once again. On one hand, where RCB hailed its fans for their incredible support for the game, for CSK it was to ensure that its fans reached their homes safely. The fighting between the fans was so intense that it could not be curtailed inside the stadium and transpired on the streets. Several videos surfaced which showed that fans from both sides were hurling abuses and displaying unruly behaviour towards the other fan base outside the stadium.

Many women were also complaining on X (formerly Twitter) about the way they had been manhandled and mistreated by the RCB fans. Furthermore, the fan pages of CSK also accused RCB fans of coming right at their face and celebrating their team’s victory.

Was the reaction from RCB fans a bit too much?

Many experts and watchers of cricket have adhered to the fact that RCB’s celebration in Chinnaswamy went overboard. However, no one can question the fact that whether RCB deserves a place in the playoffs or not. A team which was languishing at the bottom of the table capitalised on the back of a winning momentum to bag six back-to-back wins. For RCB it might turn out to be the crowning moment of the greatest player ever to don the jersey, Virat Kohli.

For the 5-time IPL champions, it was more of a tribute for Thala, who is expected to play his last game for CSK wearing the yellow jersey. A legend of the game, the former Indian skipper recently stepped down from captaincy duties as he gave the armband to Rituraj Gaikwad. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out exactly in the way Dhoni would have liked it to happen. Nevertheless, the 42-year-old played a spectacular innings with his partner in crime, Ravindra Jadeja and had almost won the game for his side.
