Sania Mirza taunted & trolled for supporting Pakistan in semi-final against Australia

In the midway of Pakistan-Australia match at the second semi-final, Sania Mirza started trending on twitter as people showed hatred towards her for supporting Pakistan.

New Delhi: Ace Indian tennis player Sania Mirza was subjected to online trolling and suffered a major backlash after she was seen supporting her husband Shoaib Malik, Pakistan’s batsman during the encounter between Pakistan and Australia at the ICC T20 World Cup second semi-final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.  Sania was seen cheering for the Men in Green on November 11.

Some cameras present at the stadium caught Sania cheering for her husband and Pakistan’s players. The 34-years-old’s presence did not go well with her fans. In between the innings, Sania Mirza started trending on Twitter. Some of her fans questioned her loyalty and support. Some of the Twitteratis called Sania a traitor for supporting Pakistan.

About the match between Pakistan and Australia, on batting first, Pakistan was restricted to 176 runs for 4 wickets. Mohammad Rizwan secured 67 off 52, resulting in his third half-century of the tournament following which Fakhar Zaman scored unbeaten 55 off 32 deliveries.

In the second innings, Australia was much under pressure with the fall of 5 wickets where they needed 62 off last 30 balls. Australia’s wicketkeeper cum batter Mathew Wade stormed with a barrage of sixes resulting in their team’s win. Wade scored 41* off 17 balls and his partnership with Marcus Stoinis (40* off 31) resulted in 81 runs.

Pakistan’s leg-spinner Shadab Khan played exceptionally well by taking 4 wickets for 26 runs.

Australia will be meeting New Zealand, another finalist on Sunday. The match will decide who will win the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 title.
