New Delhi: Festival of Lights is around the corner. With India gearing up to celebrate Diwali, everybody is in the mood for sweets, festivities and fun. Recently a lot of celebrities connect with their fans to share some advice regarding the festival such as not to burst crackers and not to harm the environment.
Collaborating with Pinterest, Indian skipper Virat Kohli shared a video on his official Instagram account about celebrating a cracker-free Diwali. Posting a video of himself he wrote, “Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing a series of my personal tips for celebrating a meaningful Diwali with loved ones and family. Stay tuned by following my Pinterest profile ‘viratkohli’ – link in bio.”
He also mentioned Covid-19 and how these two years have been tough for India as well as the world. The video showed clippings of sweets and him working out.

Kohli’s Diwali tips irks cricket fans
However, the video did not go well with the netizens. Many Hindus are raising questions as to why he is sharing “gyan” about Diwali. While some netizens criticised Kohli for showing “fake concerns for the environment.”
One of the Twitteratis said, “It has become fashion to give lecture on Hindu festivals. But no thanks. We have been celebrating our festivals from ages and we don’t need any gyan and furthermore we don’t want any woke logic and meaning to be attached to it. Stop this nonsense and meaningless charade.”
Here are some reactions from the netizens:

Awwwww..so much FAKE concern for the environment !! Why do these concerns comes in every year when Diwali is round the corner?? If Diwali, which is a one day festival , is damaging the environment so much , then you must also speak about the CO2 emissions from your private jet??

Meaningful Diwali tips from Indian skipper.
To be on Pinterest, do squats and pose in expensive clothes.
This, while some other great sportsmen wear olive green, share a joke and smile with men at frontier, silently pray for well being of others. https://t.co/bCqM0snB0K

Stick to what you do best – playing cricket. You can also teach a lot of kids how to improve their game, rather than wasting your valuable time on providing “advise” on our festivals. #Diwali2021

Always buy Diyas/Deepam made by him.
He is working hard to help his family and India ?
He has no sponsorship and does not have a “fixed” income.
This is the only wheel he can spin.
He is a Honest, True Indian who works to make money and does not sell himself to any Brand…. pic.twitter.com/j4uIbjaKJs— Eternal Traveller ?? (@TravelerEternal) October 17, 2021
Sir ji,
I have a huge respect on you by seeing the way you celebrates India’s victory in the cricket, on the other side, these people work in Sivakasi fireworks for 364 days a year for us to celebrate 1 day diwali in a year, please re-consider. pic.twitter.com/3tkAFV7hQ7

While some came to Virat’s rescue and stated that the internet users are needlessly creating issues over Virat’s statements. Being concerned about the environment shouldn’t seem wrong to users. One of the users said, “When did he say that he will teach you how to celebrate Diwali!! He just said he would share some ‘Tips’… It depends on you whether you will accept his tips or not!! This is not mandatory to celebrate according to his tips!! You guys just need an excuse to bash Virat and Anushka..”
Here are some reactions in support of Kohli:

#SunoModiKeKutto #ViratKohli Why is this hashtag trending ?? Virat has not said that he is going to teach us what to do instead he will be sharing some tips to make it even better…And, if anyone is not interested, then simply don’t follow them…. Why to make it a whole issue ? pic.twitter.com/8wGXiLxtey

He is talking about sharing tips. Maan’na hai ya nhi that’s up to you. Virat is not forcing anyone. Stop being so hard on him. Stop creating drama out of nothing ?

Why is he getting so much hatred. He is just concerned about the environment!!!People in india are so egoistic. This man is just giving opinions on celebrating diwali. He is not forcing anybody to do that.I think we should take this more open minded rather than criticizing him?.
