“…They have the services of (Sachin) Tendulkar as the batting consultant…”- WV Raman suggests new coaching changes in the India team

New Delhi: Ahead of the Border Gavaskar trophy, things seem to spice up for Gautam Gambhir over his team choice and peculiar selections. After losing the series against New Zealand and the ODI series against Sri Lanka, things seem to go downhill for Gambhir with critics questioning Gambhir’s “coaching manual” before the big test in Australia. Gambhir’s problems with the Indian team are increasing owing to the lack of discipline in batting.

Now, former head coach of the Indian Women’s Cricket team WV Raman, who was one of the forerunners for the BCCI head coach job alongside Gambhir has suggested adding Sachin Tendulkar to address the batting problems surrounding the national team.

Raman’s suggestion although might be an out-of-the-blue suggestion for many, will give a unique addition to Gambhir’s coaching staff in Australia. With many Indian batters struggling for form and consistency, Raman has advised the BCCI to try and rope in legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar as a batting consultant for the Australia tour. Raman stated that there is “enough time” before the second Test for India to go ahead with such an idea.

With the fate of the World Test Championship (WTC) standings to be massively impacted by the upcoming Australia series, Raman’s suggestion is timely.
