New Delhi: Prithvi Shaw, one of the most talented players in the younger generation takes the cricketing world by storm whenever he displays his memorable & remarkable innings. In his latest show of gutsy & spirited game, the cricketer scored an astounding 244 runs in just 153 for Northamptonshire against Somerset in England on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old player, after his blistering knock of 244 runs, also expressed his desire to play for India. He said that he didn’t know the reason for being missed out in the selection but said that he wanted to play for the country for no less than 10-12 years and also he wanted to win the World Cup for the country.

Prthivi silences his critics

Prithvi Shaw had an eventful year in 2023 as he shot to limelight with his selection by IPL franchisee Delhi Capitals and then months later, got embroiled into Sapna Gill controversy where he was accused of assaulting & molesting the social media influencer.

This incident painted the cricketer in bad light and he also drew criticism for it. With this spectacular display of two double-century in a game, the cricketer has once again silenced his critics

Why cricketed lost out in Team India squad

The cricketer despite being a ‘Sachin in the making’ has failed to make it to the Team India team. Despite being in sublime form, he has been snubbed often.

When asked about this, Shaw said that the management declined his selection on basis of fitness but he fiercely contested it, saying that he had cleared the fitness Tests but didn’t get picked up.

Earlier this year also, he got a call-up into the Indian team and got selected for the series against New Zealand but unfortunately didn’t get the chance to play.

He said that he didn’t know the reason behind his ‘last-minute droppings’ but this wouldn’t dampen his courage & will.

“I’m disappointed but you just have to move forward. I can’t do anything, I can’t fight with anyone,” he added.
Cricket observers believe that despite strong statistics, Shaw may fail to get a chance in the upcoming World Cup.

Team India has almost settled its top order batsmen with Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli making for a strong batting line-up and hence giving chance to ‘newcomer’ like Shaw would be taking a big risk.

In the last night match, Shaw scored 244 runs off 153 balls with 28 fours and 11 sixes. He outwitted his highest List A score of 227 that he got while playing for Mumbai against Puducherry during Vijay Hazare Trophy in February 2021.
