UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi Tuesday said the law now stands on the brink of extinction adding that the present government sees the RTI Act as a nuisance and wants to destroy the status and independence of the Central Information Commission.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Adityanath met the family members of the firing victims and handed over a cheque of Rs 50,000 each to those injured in the incident.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress leaders Ajay Maken, Arvinder Singh Lovely and Kapil Sibal also paid tributes to Dikshit at the party headquarters.

A statement issued by Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, where she was admitted on Saturday morning, said she was brought "in a critical condition with cardiac arrest".
