WhatsApp’s competitor Telegram already has been offering the new feature for a long time.

New Delhi: It has been for years since WhatsApp users have been demanding a feature that let them use the same account of the messaging app on two mobiles simultaneously. What is the Companion mode of WhatsApp?

The Companion mode will let the user sync the chats and data to a secondary phone. At present, the feature is in testing mode on Android devices on the v2.22.23.18 beta version. It is reported the new features will allow four devices to connect at the same time.

To make the process easy, WhatsApp has developed a barcode to scan and use the mode. It is likely WhatsApp will also begin testing the mode soon on the iOS platform as well.

According to reports, this will not affect WhatsApp’s promise of end-to-end encryption. If reports are to be believed the beta testing will be completed in a couple of months. The companion mode of WhatsApp is expected to go live in the year 2023.
