Below here we are going to tell you why WhatsApp is planning to offer the feature at a certain cost:

According to media reports, WhatsApp has brought a circular to charge a fee on calls. Notably, the company decided to bring the circular as the internet call is inexpensive than offline calls. This feature allows a user not to be dependent on mobile recharge, causing a huge loss to telecom network providers.

One must know that WhatsApp allows anyone to call other users despite not having a SIM card in a mobile phone. One can also make calls from a laptop.

However, it is not yet certain when the new development will come into effect. This proposal was first brought by TRAI in 2008 during the initial days of mobile internet. The proposal has once gained popularity as mobile internet is now everywhere in India and affordable too.

It is expected other internet call service providers such as Google Duo, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and Telegram will also implement the feature.
