New Delhi: A communal tension erupted after Hardline Hefazat-e-Islam supporters attack Hindu village in Bangladesh

This came after a Hindu youth criticised the group for opposing installing a sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

According to reports, the Hindu man from Noagaon, Shalla upazila criticized Mamunul, who opposed the sculpture of Bangabandhu on Tuesday.

After which mob with weapons attacked the Hindu village on Wednesday,reported Dhaka Tribune.

On Tuesday night, the Hefazat leaders staged a protest, accusing the social media post by the young man of inciting religious violence.

However, to control the situation the police arrested the youth the same night.

According to the police, 70-80 houses were vandalized.

Vivekananda Majumder Bakul, Habibpur union chairman said several houses in the village had been attacked and vandalized .

It is said that many local Hindus shifted to other places to save themselves. The followers of Hefazat-e-Islam entered the village, ransacked and looted many houses.
