World Health Organisation chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said that there is no silver bullet to cure the pandemic as of now and there might never be, asking the countries to practice safety measures and not get too hopeful about the vaccine.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a news briefing there was “no silver bullet at the moment – and there might never be”.
Mr Tedros implored people around the world to comply with measures such as social distancing, hand-washing and mask-wearing, saying: “Do it all.”

He said that even though there are a number of Coronavirus vaccines in phase third of the clinical trials but “there’s no silver bullet at the moment and there might never be,” he said on Monday.
“A number of vaccines are now in phase three clinical trials and we all hope to have a number of effective vaccines that can help prevent people from infection. However, there’s no silver bullet at the moment and there might never be,” Tedros said.
India needs to brace for long battle: Mike Ryan
WHO emergencies head Mike Ryan said that the battle of India is going to be a long one. He said countries with high transmission rates like Brazil and India need to brace for a big battle adding, “The way out is long and requires a sustained commitment.”
On Monday, with 52,972 new coronavirus cases and 771 deaths in the last 24 hours, India’s overall caseload stood at 1,803,695, while the total fatalities increased to 38,135, data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare revealed.
The country had crossed the 17 lakh mark on Sunday. Notably, as many as 1,07,707 coronavirus cases were added in a day. Currently, 5,79,357 cases are active, 11,86,203 people have recovered from the disease and were discharged.
