New Delhi: India has raised the issue of “weaponised drone usage for terrorist purposes against strategic and commercial assets” at the UN today, urging its attention on the issue.
Addressing a High-Level Conference of the Head of Counter-Terrorism Agencies of the Member States at the UNGA, India said, “Possibility of the use of weaponized drones for terrorist purposes against strategic & commercial assets calls for serious attention by the member states. We have witnessed terrorists using UAS to smuggle weapons across borders.”
Special Secy (Internal Security) at UN High-level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies said, “Misuse of info & communication technology&emerging technologies for terrorist purposes emerged as most serious terrorism threats&will decide counter-terrorism paradigm going forward.”
“Add-on to existing worries is Drones use- Being low-cost option&easily available, utilization of aerial/sub-surface platforms for sinister purposes by terrorist grps including targeted attacks become imminent danger&challenge for security agencies.”
Jammu Drone Attack
On Sunday morning, two blasts were carried out by drones in the technical area of Jammu Air Force Station. One of the blasts caused minor damage to the roof of a building while the other exploded in an open area, the Indian Air Force (IAF) informed.
While no damage to any equipment two personnel suffered minor injuries..
