Ukraine-Russia War: Interpreter breaks down while translating Zelenskyy’s European Parliament speech [WATCH]

Her voice breaks down as she continues to translate the speech, “Ukraine, we definitely know… what we are defending”

New Delhi: Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received a standing ovation after his address at an extraordinary session in the European Parliament on Tuesday.

“We’re fighting for our land & our freedom despite the fact that all our cities are now blocked. Nobody is going to break us, we’re strong, we’re Ukrainians”, he said in his speech.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ukrainian parliament speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk had joined the special session of the EU Parliament on Ukraine via video conferencing.

Zelinsky, who wants his country to be a part of the European Union, told the Parliament, “Do prove that you are with us. Do prove that you will not let us go. Do prove that you are indeed Europeans and then life will win over death and light will win over darkness”.

“The EU will be much stronger with us. Without you, Ukraine will be lonesome”, said Zelenskyy to the members of the Parliament, amongst whom many wore #standwithUkraine T-shirts bearing the Ukrainian flag.

Meanwhile, a video clip of Zelenskyy’s address to the UN Parliament is doing rounds on social media, wherein the interpreter while translating his speech for a German outlet burst into tears.

The interpreter could be heard saying, “Russia is on the path of evil. Russia must lose its voice in the United Nations…”. Her voice breaks down as she continues to translate the speech, “Ukraine, we definitely know… what we are defending”.

After this, she took a break for a while, apologizes, and began with her translation again.

Meanwhile, EU Parliament President Roberta Metsola said in the session, “The message from Europe is clear. We will stand up, we will not look away when those fighting in the street for our values stand down Putin’s war machine”.
