New Delhi: Kabir Khan launched the trailer of the upcoming film ‘Chandu Champion’ in Gwalior yesterday. The trailer was loved by the fans especially Kartik Aryan’s look and performance. It will be interesting to see the sports biopic based on the life of India’s Paralympic Gold Medalist Murlikant Kelkar. Bollywood actor Kartik Aryan who is playing the role of Murlikant Petkar had gone through intense training and hard work to fit into the shoes of the character.

Who is Murlikant Petkar?
Murlikant Petkar was India’s first paralympic gold medalist who was born in Sangli, Maharashtra on 1st November 1944. He was a Jawan in the Indian Army. Murlikant was a boxing enthusiast. He got injured during the 1965 war against Pakistan and sustained 9 bullet injuries.
Murlikant didn’t lose heart and tried his hand in swimming and created a record in the 50 meter freestyle with timing of 37.33 seconds. He also tried his hand in Javelin throw and Slalom and became a finalist in all the three games.
The Paralympic Champion was given a chance to represent India at the 1968 Paralympics in Tel Aviv, Israel. Murlikant was awarded with a Padma shri in 2018. He joined Telco in Pune in his late 50s.

Kartik Aryan has put in a lot of hard work to give his best to the character of the Indian Paralympic Gold Medalist. He quit sugar and followed a rigorous diet to get the right look for the character. The ‘Chandu Champion’ actor reduced his body fat from 39 percent to 7 percent. The film is scheduled to hit the silver silver on June 14th 2024.
