Video: MS Dhoni tells why he prefers Instagram & dislikes ‘X’ says, “Why do I need to be there…?”

Despite his monumental popularity & unmatched fame, the cricketing legend has always kept himself away from the hustle and bustle of social media.

New Delhi: Former Indian skipper & wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated sportsmen in the world.

However, despite his monumental popularity & unmatched fame, the cricketing legend has always kept himself away from the hustle and bustle of social media.

Even in today’s rapidly digitalizing era, when almost every second cricketer, including the ones who have left the game long ago, prefers to stay active on platforms like YouTube, X, & Instagram, the World Cup-winning Indian cricketer has continued to embrace simplicity by maintaining an extremely low-key profile on the internet, far away from the hubbub of internet.

Nevertheless, on those rare occasions, when MS does share something from his otherwise silent social media handles, his fans always make sure to shower their love & support on the same, resulting in the like & view count of Dhoni’s post crossing the mark of millions almost every time.

MS Dhoni’s Favourite Social Media Platform

Recently, in a conversation with his IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming, MS Dhoni spoke about social media & even disclosed why he prefers Instagram over X.

Gracing the Dubai Eye event alongside Stephen & CSK’s newly appointed captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, MS Dhoni told why he avoids X and likes META-owned Instagram instead.

He said, “I Prefer Instagram over Twitter (X). I believe that nothing good has happened over Twitter. Especially in India, there’s always a controversy, somebody will write something, and it will turn into a controversy… Why do I need to be there? You know it used to be 140 characters. You cannot elaborate. Imagine me putting something over there, and then it is left up to the people to read it and interpret what they want to interpret.”

“Instagram, I still like it because I could put up a picture or a video or something and just leave it. That is also changing now. I still prefer Instagram, but I’m not very active because I don’t know I feel you know fewer distractions are better. But in between, on and off, I would put something for the fans so that they know this is where I am. Somewhere good, in good hands, doing what I like”, MS added further.

Meanwhile, following a heartbreaking defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2024’s virtual knockout game played last Saturday in Chinnawwamy Stadium, Dhoni’s CSK failed to clinch a playoff birth & became the last team to get eliminated from the tournament.

On the other hand, Faf-du-Plessis-led RCB marched into the playoffs after winning 6 games in a row in a striking manner. They will now face Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator game on 22 May 2024 in Ahamadbad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
