All ten forms of the Goddess , whether gentle or terrifying, are worshipped as the universal mother.
The name Maha Vidya comes from the Sanskrit root, with Maha meaning great and Vidya meaning revelation manifestation , knowledge or wisdom. The one truth is sensed in ten different ways. The Divine Mother, is adored and approached as ten cosmic personalities. The origin of the ten Maha Vidyas “SATI”, the consort of Lord Shiva; was the daughter of Daksha Prajapati. He was a descendant of Brahma. The vain Daksha performed a yagya and did not invite Lord Shiva. Sati wanted to go but Lord Shiva did not want her to go there and get insulted. The Divine Mother multiplied herself in ten different forms, guarding the ten directions. Each of the ten wisdom goddesses have their own name. story, quality and mantra. Healing hugs from Her heart. Love from the ten directions.
