New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki Swift and Renault New Duster are amongst the favourite car models that appeal strongly to Gen Next and sell like hotcakes. Both the four-wheelers make for a good buy because of their aesthetic appeal, reasonable price and internal space.

But, on a sombre note, the peoples’ ‘favourite cars’ reportedly come with poor safety standards. Suzuki Swift and Renault Duster have failed the crash test.

Both got zero stars at the Latin NCAP crash test with the latter calling for ‘urgent improvements’.

Swift and Duster fail crash test

Under Latin NCAP’s testing standards, the Renault Duster received 0 stars. The SUV received 29.47% in the adult occupant category, 22.93% in the child occupant category and 34.88% in the Safety Assist category. The SUV is manufactured in Latin America & Romania.

Tata mocks Maruti for 0 safety rating

Tata Motors has taken the opportunity to troll the homegrown Maruti Swift for scoring a zero-star safety rating. Many Twitter users concurred with Tata Motors trolling Maruti for scoring zero safety ratings in the crash test.

It may be noted that Tata cars, ranging from hatchback to sedan models, boast of a safety rating of 4-5 star global NCAP ratings.
