Covid-19: Recovery rate climbs to 78.53%; Maha, UP among 5 states with most recoveries

Recovery from coronavirus is maximum in 5 states namely Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. Together, they account for 60% of Covid recovery.

New Delhi: The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients continues to climb with each passing day. In last 24 hours, more than 82,000 patients have been recovered and discharged from hospital, thereby pushing the recovery rate to 78.53%.

According to the Health Ministry, the total number of recoveries now stand at 39,42, 360 while the number of active cases is 9,95,933. Total death tool has breached the 80,000 mark and is now 82,066.

However, there are 5 states which are majorly pushing the recovery figure. Co-incidently, they are also the same states contributing maximum numbers to the country’s Corona count. Of all these, Maharashtra remains worst affected state.

60% recovery in these 5 states – Maha at top

Recovery from coronavirus is maximum in 5 states namely Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. Together, they account for 60% of Covid recovery.

Out of these 5 states, Maharashtra boasts of highest recovery from the virus with over 7.5 lakh recoveries and close to 3 active cases till date.

Other states with high recovery figures include Uttar Pradesh (2.45 lakh), Andhra Pradesh (4.75 lakh), Karnataka (3.61 lakh) and Tamil Nadu (4.53 lakh). Active cases in Uttar Pradesh & Tamil Nadu is hovering around 50,000 while in Andhra and Karnakata, around 1 lakh people continue to remain infected with virus.

These 9 states contribute to 73.2% Corona cases

As per official figures, more than 60% of active cases remain concentrated in 5 states – Maharashtra (21.9%), Karnataka (9.5%), Andhra Pradesh (11.7%), Uttar Pradesh (6.4%) and Tamil Nadu (10.4%). These are the same states with highest recovery rates.

As evident from the table below, there are 9 states which account for about 73.2% corona cases. Out of these, 3 states including Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra make up for 48.8% of total Covid-19 cases while UP, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Kerala and Telangana contribute with rest 24.4% cases.

16 states/UTs remain much safer than the rest of country, with just 4.3% Corona cases.

States with highest Corona deaths

Corona cases have crossed 50 lakh and deaths due to this have breached 80,000 mark.

According to official figures, Maharashtra again tops the chart in registering number of Corona deaths with 37.01%. Other states with high fatality include Karnataka (9.14%), Tamil Nadu (10.44%), Andhra Pradesh (6.16%), Delhi (5.91) while the rest of country accounts for 31.35% deaths due to Coronavirus.
