New Delhi: The Covid-19 recovered cases in the country have crossed 72 lakhs and the recovery rate today stands at 90.62 per cent. Briefing media, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said, India’s cases per million population is among the lowest in the world which stands at 50,758 while the global average is 5,504. Bhushan said, India’s deaths per million population is also among the lowest in the World and it stands at 86 deaths per million population. He said, the national recovery rate is continuously increasing and has further grown to 90.62% today.
The Health Secretary stressed that this is a satisfactory sign that within 13 days the recoveries have increased from 60 lakh to 70 lakh and now have crossed 72 lakhs. He said, there is continuous decline in Case Fatality Rate and today it stands at 1.50 per cent.
Mr Bhushan said, since past five weeks, there is continuous decline in average of daily new deaths reported from COVID-19. He said, this is an important trend that average of daily new COVID19 cases is significantly coming down since last five weeks.
The Union Health Secretary said, the active cases have drastically declined to 6.25 lakh. He said, the total positive cases of the country are 6.25 lakh now comprise merely 7.88% of the total cases.
78 per cent of the total Active Cases in the country are being reported from 10 States and Union Territories. He said, Maharashtra, Kerala and Karnataka have contributed the maximum to the active cases.
86 per cent of the total deaths are concentrated in ten States and Union Territories. Maharashtra has reported the maximum deaths. He said, in the last 24 hours, 58 per cent of the new deaths have been reported in the 5 States and Union Territories.
Maharashtra has reported the maximum single day deaths with 84 deaths. Mr Bhushan said, 49.4 per cent of new confirmed cases reported in last 24 hours are from five States and Union Territories.
He said, Kerala and West Bengal have contributed the maximum to the new cases with more than 4,000 cases each and Maharashtra, Karnataka follow with more than 3,000 new cases. The Union Health Secretary informed that more than 10 crore tests have been conducted.
