With over 45,000 samples, Uttar Pradesh conducts highest single-day Covid test

Just days back, UP CM Yogi Adityanath called for an aggressive door-to-door campaign to identify and locate Covid patients, followed by required. He also directed officials to ramp up Covid testing and increase it to 50,000 tests per day.

New Delhi: More than 45,000 samples were tested for COVID-19 by the Uttar Pradesh Government on Tuesday, the highest single-day tests conducted by any state, said Alok Kumar, Secretary to UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

“Yesterday we tested more than 45,000 samples for COVID-19. This is the highest test conducted by any state in a single day. Our positivity still lies below 4 per cent,” informed Kumar in a tweet.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state is 39,724, including 13,758 active cases.

While 24,983 have cured/recovered/migrated, the death toll stands at 983.

Fresh ‘Unlock’ guidelines: Markets to stay shut during weekends

To fight the coronavirus pandemic, UP CM Yogi Adityanath had issued fresh ‘Unlock’ guidelines for the state.

As part of the guidelines all markets will allowed to remain open from Monday to Friday and during the weekends they’ll remain shut when sanitization process will be undertaken at these markets.

“The lockdown on weekends will be implemented on Saturday and Sunday especially in the crowded areas. The markets and offices will remain closed on these days. However, the banks will remain open,” Additional Chief Secretary (Home and Information) Awanish Awasthi told media.
