UGC declares 21 universities as “fake”; maximum in Delhi followed by Uttar Pradesh

The state-wise details of fake universities are given below and its also available on UGC’s website ugc.ac.in.

New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) today (August 26, Friday) declared 21 “self-styled” institutions fake and found two more in violation of norms.

Out of the list that that has been named by the UGC, Delhi has the highest number of such fake universities followed by Uttar Pradesh with 7 fake universities.

Apart from Delhi and UP, names of fake universities from Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Odisha and Puducherry have also been listed.

All these universities that has been named in the list was functioning against the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
