Aamir Khan’s upcoming flick faces backlash again; #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha trends on Twitter

Netizens have been circulating snippets from these interviews and are apparently calling him ‘anti-Hindu’ and ‘anti-National,’ along with the hashtag ‘#LaalSinghChaddha.’

New Delhi: Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Laal Singh Chaddha are facing backlashes since the launch of its trailer. The movie is again trending on Twitter and not for the right reason. Netizens are using #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha on Twitter and asking people not to watch it.

The backlash tweets show that netizens posted some archives and dug Aamir Khan’s controversial statement where he said, “India’s growing intolerance.”

Besides, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s controversial statements are also going around the internet.

This is the reference to an interview of Aamir Khan where he stated that “Our country is very tolerant, but there are people who spread ill-will.” Aamir Khan’s wife, Kiran Rao also said that she considered leaving the country for the safety of their children.

Netizens have been circulating snippets from these interviews and are apparently calling him ‘anti-Hindu’ and ‘anti-National,’ along with the hashtag ‘#LaalSinghChaddha.’

Notably, this is not the first time people have shown anger towards the upcoming film. When in May the trailer was launched, similar hashtags started trending on the micro-blogging site.

The makers of the film recently announced that the movie would be available on OTT platforms within six months of its release.

Helmed by Advait Chandan, the movie is produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Kiran Rao, and Viacom18 Studios. Apart from Aamir and Kareena, the movie also stars Mona Singh and Chaitanya Akkineni. This movie is an official remake of the Academy Award-winning 1994 film Forrest Gump, which had Tom Hanks in the lead role.
