New Delhi: Amid nepotism debate, Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak 2 is at the centre of a controversy. The trailer of Sadak 2, starring Sanjay Dutt and Alia Bhatt, released on Wednesday morning get whooping 6 million dislikes till now.

The trailer, featuring Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Makarand Deshpande, was almost immediately rejected by netizens stating ‘nepotism’.

‘Sadak 2’ trailer had 3.5 million+ views, and the dislikes on it were 1.9 million which is 19 lakh, by 5.30 pm on August 12, 2020, which was just a few hours after the trailer was unveiled. Currently, the trailer, which is trending on the video platform, has more dislikes than likes, making it probably the ‘most disliked trailer’ on the internet.

Sadak 2, a sequel to his 1991 film starring Sanjay Dutt and Pooja, will be released on Disney+ Hotstar on August 28. The film was intended for a theatrical release, but producer Mukesh Bhatt said that they were forced to take the streaming route after the coronavirus pandemic shut down several industries, including film.

Sadak 2′ has been drawing ire on social media since Sushant Singh Rajput’s death on June 14. The insider vs outsider debate reignited on social media with Sushan’s death. A section of the internet also believes that he was a victim of “Bollywoood’s nepotistic attitude towards outsiders” as the actor allegedly lost seven films earlier.

Sushant’s brother-in-law had also launched an app named Nepometer to track nepotism in Bollywood. The first film to have been measured in the app was ‘Sadak 2’ and Nepometer found it to be 98% nepotistic.

The film was rated on the basis of five categories – producer, lead artists, supporting artists, director & writer. “Four out of five categories have Bollywood family members,” the team said in an Instagram post. Soon, there was a call to boycott the film.
