New Delhi: Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale backed actress Payal Ghosh and slammed director Anurag Kashyap over sexual misconduct with her.

Payal Ghosh, who recently levelled sexual harassment charges against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap met Ramdas Athawale. Athawale tweeted extending support to the actress after the meeting, asking Mumbai Police to immediately arrest Anurag Kashyap. He gave seven days ultimatum to Mumbai Police to arrest Kashyap or else his party Republican Party of India will protest across Mumbai.

“According to Payal Ghosh’s arguments, Mumbai Police should arrest Anurag Kashyap. Otherwise we will protest soon,” tweeted the politician.

Athawale said, Payal Ghosh had accused Anurag Kashyap of harassment and demanded his arrest. She said that she would sit on a hunger strike if she doesn’t get justice. Payal had accused Anurag of harassment during making of ‘Bombay velvet’.

Payal Ghosh to file FIR against Anurag Kashyap

“I risked everything including my career and came forward to speak. I request people to speak up if something similar happened with them. You should come forward, speak about this and fight for your rights,” Ghosh said.

Last week, Payal filed an FIR against Anurag Kashyap at Versova Police Station in the city, accusing him of sexual misconduct in 2014.
