New Delhi: Cricketer turned politician, Navjot Singh Sidhu retired from his post as the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief on Tuesday. His announcement left the party members in utter shock as he was likely to be the face of Punjab Chief Minister in upcoming elections in Punjab.
In a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Sidhu wrote, “The collapse of a man’s character stems from the compromise corner, I can never compromise on Punjab’s future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab. Therefore, I hereby resign as the president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Will continue to serve the Congress.”

On the contrary, in the entertainment world, soon after Sidhu declared his resignation, actress Archana Puran Singh started trending on Twitter. Twitterati joked about Archana being re-replaced by Sidhu as the special guest on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show.’
Many netizens started joking about her career now being at risk. Interestingly, many memes regarding this are going viral on Twitter.
