New Delhi: ‘Boycott Bollywood’ call dominated the Twitter trend for months, then went into oblivion but Richa Chadha’s tweet on Armed Forces has given fresh impetus to the boycott call.
Bollywood actress Richa Chadha, often perceived as one of the vocal proponents of liberal lobby, is in line of fire over her insulting & disgusting remark on the Indian Army. The actress is facing strong backlash online over her ‘Galwan taunt’ on the Indian Army and netizens are calling out her ‘hypocrisy’ and also posting strong counter reply to her distasteful jibe at the Armed personnel.
Richa took to Twitter on November 23 and mocked the Indian Army by tweeting on Galwan clash. Replying to a statement from Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command of the Indian Army that it is prepared to take back PoK, Richa Chadha tweeted, ‘Galwan says Hi.’
It may be noted that in June 2020, Indian & Chinese soldiers had a bloody clash in the Galwan valley, resulting in death of 20 Indian soldiers. Many Chinese soldiers also died in the violent clashes. However, the actress choosing to mock the Indian Army despite its valiant effort in nixing Chinese assault has left the netizens enraged.
Since morning, #Boycott Bollywood has taken over Twitter and several people are objecting strongly to actress comment.

Boycott call spells doom for Fukrey 3?
#BoycottBollywood trend is a manifestation of people’s anger but what’s the more concerning factor is that it comes just a month ahead of her upcoming movie Fukrey 3.
Fukrey is one of the high points of Richa’s career and also stars her husband Ali Faizal. Earlier, two versions were also hit on the Box Office.
However, with the boycott call picking up again and as understood from social media ire, it may seriously impact the opening & success of Fukrey 3.
People are already dubbing the starcast of movie as ‘Fukrey cast’ and poking fun at her as well as Ali Faizal for deriding the Army.

It may be noted that Aamir Khan’s mega movie Laal Singh Chaddha became a Bollywood disaster. Film analysts too concurred that the main reason behind film’s failure was boycott call of Aamir’s film over latter’s alleged affront to Hindu Gods.
