New Delhi: Chandrayaan-3, the third edition of India’s Moon Mission is all set to kickstart on Friday at 2:35 PM. As the Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (LVM 3) lifts off from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (Sriharikota), the scientific community and space enthusiasts are watching with baited breath and hoping for its successful launch.

The countdown has begun and from the scientific community to Bollywood actors, all are extending heartfelt wishes for Indian Space Research Oraganisation (ISRO)’s moon mission, especially in wake of India’s failed Mission Chandryaan -2.

How Akshay, Anupam wished good luck

Akshay Kumar, who himself played a scientist in recent movie ‘Mission Mangal’, depicting the life of scientists at ISRO took to Twitter and wished good luck while tagging his old 2019 tweet, which he posted during launch of Chandryaan-2.

Anupam Kher took tweeted good luck to ISRO and said that the world is watching India.

Actor Riteish Deshmukh also prayed for the success of ISRO’s Chandrayaan – 3.

All about Chandrayaan-3 Mission

Chandrayaan-3 comes on back of failed ‘Mission 2’ as the Chandrayaan-2 crash-landed in September 2019 due to technical glitch. Chandrayaan-3 is expected to land on Moon on August 23, after over a month-long journey.

If the Chandrayaan-3 blasts off successfully, it will make India the only fourth nation to achieve this feat. Former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan says that its successful landing will increase India’s potential for further space science development.

He said that this will also substantially enhance India’s share in the global space business. Currently, India accounts for just 2% share of $600 billion industry.

Successful Chandrayaan-3 mission will put India in an elite club of nations and will become just the fourth nation after US, China & Russia to do this.

Chandrayaan-2 comprised of Vikram lander, Pragyan rover and orbiter while Chandrayaan-3 is loaded with just a lander and a rover.

According to ISRO chief, the area of landing has been expanded from 500m x 500m to 4 km by 2.5 km.

“It can land anywhere, so it doesn’t limit you to target a specific point. It will target a specific point only in nominal conditions. So, if the performance is poor, it can land anywhere within that area,” he said.

Chandrayaan-3 has also been loaded with more fuel to ensure that it remains more capable of travel or handle dispersion or move to an alternate landing site.
