New Delhi: Award-winning Khasi film ‘Lorni – The Flaneur’ is all set to be released on SonyLiv on September 2. The film-‘Lorni – The Flaneur’ starring Adil Hussain has been directed by musician-filmmaker Wanphrang K Diengdoh.
The film was released in 2019 and was also screened at various film festivals, such as the New York Indian Film Fest 2020, London Indian Film Festival 2021 and Ottawa Indian Film Festival 2021.
‘Lorni – The Flaneur’ is also the only Indian nomination in the First Feature Category Competition at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Fest, Estonia.
The film is set in Shillong also known as ‘Scotland of the East,’ capital of Meghalaya, is the story of Shem (Adi; Hussain), an out-of-work, self-styled detective. His life takes an interesting twist when he is asked to investigate the disappearance of a ‘paila’ – a coral necklace, which is believed to be very significant for the Khasi people.

Its then, Hussain walks the narrow streets of Shillong as he embarks on an emotional and mental journey.
Taking about the OTT release, Adil Hussain who was recently seen in Delhi Crime 2, who played police commissioner Kumar Vijay said he hopes the Khasi film is received positively by the viewers.
Adil Husain who is known for his excellent roles, basically hails from Assam’s Goalpara. Filmmaker and music director Diengdoh also shared his excitement and said that he is happy that the film will reach a wider audience with its debut on SonyLIV.
