New Delhi: Comedian Vir Das landed in controversy for allegedly making anti-India comments in his monologue ‘I come from two Indias’, which he delivered as part of his performance in the US.
Netizens slammed the comedian for insulting India in the video clip wherein he could be seen saying, “I come from an India where we worship women during the day and gang-rape them during the night”.

The 42-year-old was mercilessly trolled for generalizing rape incidents, the evils of a few individuals and vilifying the nation as a whole. Netizens even dug out his old videos and tweets with derogatory remarks for women.
A twitter user Shefali Vaidya questioned Das as to why he has deleted some of his old tweets targeting women, along with the screen shots of the related tweets.
Why did you delete these tweets and run away squealing like a pig @thevirdas pic.twitter.com/luXbEUrn6b

Here’s what Twitter has to say on Das’s remarks :
You come from an India, @VirDas, where you make a living by insulting your own nation!!
You come from an India, that allows your disgusting, derogative nonsense to pass off as freedom of speech!!
You come from an India, that has tolerated your slander for way to long!!#Shame pic.twitter.com/YGRfDqQknj

If you get a chance to speak to a foreign audience in a foreign land about India and Indians, be a #Vivekananda not a #VirDas !

Generalising the evils of a few individuals and vilifying the nation as a whole in front of the world is just not done!
The people who painted India in front of the west as a nation of saperas and luteras during the colonial rule have not ceased to exist.#VirDas

I see a terrorist in this man called #Virdas
He is one of those members of a sleeper cell who has waged a war against our country on a foreign land .
Should be immediately arrested under #UAPA and tried under terror laws . @AmitShah @HMOIndia @MumbaiPolice @CPMumbaiPolice pic.twitter.com/RMYQf7a0Ul— Ashoke Pandit (@ashokepandit) November 16, 2021
