New Delhi: Popular Punjabi Singer-rapper Shubhmeet Singh (Shubh) has been lately making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
The singer is not only facing heavy backlash for his Pro-Khalistani remarks that he allegedly made in a previous Instagram post, but is also on the verge of getting his upcoming Mumbai tour cancelled amidst the ongoing controversy.
Recently, Bharatiya Janta Party’s Youth wing Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha protested against the singer over his allegedly anti-Indian post and demanded the government to cancel his upcoming music concert tour which is scheduled to be held in India.
Virat Kohli unfollows Shubh
As Shubh’s controversial post attracted more and more criticism from the masses, Indian cricket Virat Kohli unfollowed him on Instagram while India’s leading electronic brand Company BoAt also swung into action and ended their sponsorship of his upcoming tour after releasing an official statement about the same on their Twitter (X) handle.
Withdrawing their sponsorship from Shubh’s upcoming music tour, the consumer electronic brand company, on their official Twitter handle, wrote, “At boAt, while our commitment to the incredible music community runs deep, we are first and foremost a truly Indian brand. Therefore, when we became aware of the remarks made by artist Shubh earlier this year, we chose to withdraw our sponsorship from the tour,”
Who is Shubhneet Singh?
Shubhneet Singh Sandhu, the youngest sibling of iconic Punjabi singer Ravneet Singh, is a well-known Canadian singer of Indian origin who moved to Canada to kick-start his journey as a singer. He rose up to fame in 2021 when his single track ‘Dont Look’ with Irman Thiara received appreciation from the audience.
While the 26-year-old singer already earned himself fame after dropping three super hit singles titled “No Love”, “Baller” and “Her” in the year 2022, it was his 2023 billboard chartbuster tracks “We Rollin” and “Don’t Look” that took his fame to a whole different level and established him as one of the most emerging modern singers of the desi music industry. Other than singing, the versatile artist is also well-received for his impressive rapping style and composing skills.
Following his newly earned success in the music industry, the Singer announced his India tour during which he was supported to hold a concert in Mumbai. However, post his allegedly separatist stance, the chances of him going ahead with his tour and performing in Mumbai look really slim.
