Opinion Poll predicts dead heat in Bengal, 4 days ahead of elections; Cong-Left seen in pitiable state

Opinion polls suggest that TMC may get 136-146 seats in the Assembly elections on the other hand it is estimated that BJP will score 130-140 seats. However, the magic figure to form the government in the state is 148.

New Delhi: West Bengal is all set for the Assembly elections as polling for the first phase is set to begin on March 27 (Saturday). Amid the high-voltage campaigns by TMC, BJP & Congress star campaigners, the mood of electorate is what will count on the D-day.

Just 4 days of 1st phase of Assembly elections, an Opinion poll has predicted dead head in Mamata-ruled Bengal. According to opinion poll conducted by ABP-CNX, TMC and BJP are vying for the top spot as the latter is seen emerging as great challenger to the ruling party in state.

As per survey, the mood of voter is swinging with high-octane campaigns. Days ago, TMC was believed to walk away with majority but now after this survey, a close fight is seen between the incumbent TMC and challenger BJP.

Vote Share difference between TMC & BJP

According to the latest opinion poll, 43.61% of the people felt that BJP can come into power in the eastern state, however, it’s just a hairline difference between the two as TMC got 42.05% of the positive response.

When the same set of respondents were asked which political party will they vote for in the upcoming Assembly polls, TMC emerged as the favourite as 40.07% said they will vote for Mamta Banerjee. BJP garnered the support of 37.75% of voters who said that their favourites are the saffron party.

130+ seats projected for both BJP & TMC

Opinion polls suggest that TMC may get 136-146 seats in the Assembly elections on the other hand it is estimated that BJP will score 130-140 seats. However, the magic figure to form the government in the state is 148. According to the survey, the Congress-Left-ISF alliance can get 14 to 18 seats and others can get 1 to 3 seats.

Favoured choice for Bengal CM

Within the West Bengal Opinion Ballot, CNX asked respondents – Who do you wish to see as Chief Minister after elections?
39 % respondents named Mamta Banerjee. 22 % named Dilip Ghosh, 6 % named Adhir Ranjan while 12 % named Shubhendu Adhikari.

Legislative Assembly elections for 294 seats of West Bengal are scheduled to be held between 27 March to 29 April 2021 in 8 phases and votes will be counted on 2 May 2021.
