After Ahmedabad, Gujarat govt imposes night curfew in 3 more cities

Vijay Rupani has asked public to strictly follow COVID-19 protocols like wearing masks and maintaining social distance when going out during day, and to stay indoors between 9 pm and 6 am in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara.

New Delhi: After 57-hour curfew in Ahmedabad, Gujarat government has now decided to impose night curfew in another 3 cities – Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara.

The step was taken as these cities are witnessing exponential rise in Coronavirus cases. A 57-hour long curfew was imposed in Ahmedabad from Friday night.

Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani in his Facebook address on Sunday said there will only be night curfew in 4 cities, including Ahmedabad, from here on.

Rupani said that starting Monday, only night curfew will be imposed in the city.

“From tomorrow (November 23), only night curfew will be imposed, which began in three cities (Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot) from last (Saturday) night,” he said.

In his address, the CM asked public to strictly follow COVID-19 protocols like wearing masks and maintaining social distance when going out during day, and to stay indoors between 9 pm and 6 am in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara.

According to the state government, the total count has gone up to 1,95,917. The state has seen 1,78,786 recoveries and 3,846 people have died due to the disease. The state has 13,285 active cases.

Ahmedabad recorded 354 new cases and 1,271 discharged/recovered cases while nine people succumbed to the virus.
