New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) was already probing if Waze was present at the spot near Antilia – where the SUV with explosives was abandoned – on the night of the incident. “NIA is probing if the man who is seen in a CCTV grab near Antilia, wearing a PPE on the night when Scorpio was parked, is Sachin Waze or not. NIA is checking his alibi, CCTV footage etc,” NIA sources were quoted as saying by news agency ANI on Monday.
A laptop was seized from the cabin of Sachin Waze in a raid day before yesterday but all the data in it was already deleted. He was asked for his cellphone and he had said that he had dropped it somewhere. But the fact is that he had intentionally thrown it away, said NIA.
Police officer Sachin Waze placed under suspension by an order of Addl CP Special Branch.
He was arrested by NIA in connection with its investigation into the recovery of explosives from a car parked near Mukesh Ambani’s house in Mumbai.
Sachin Vaze has been arrested under Sections 286 (Negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance), 465 (Punishment for forgery), 473 (Making or possessing counterfeit seal), 506(2) (criminal intimidation), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code and 4(a)(b)(I)(attempt to cause an explosion) of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908.
