What happened in Badaun

Though police has refrained from divulging details of the incident, sources claim that the priest had prior links with the woman. The latter was a regular visitor to the Ashram and she even stayed there a couple of times. But, on that fateful day, things turned ugly as the priest reportedly attacked and grievously injured her. He also called upon his two accomplices to the spot, following which they took the victim to a local nursing home but hospital denied admission. Following this, these accused left the woman at her home and told the family members that she fell down in the well of Ashram, sources further claimed.

However, as per the official account, the incident happened when the woman went to the temple for offering puja.

The incident has been reported from a village under Ughaiti police station area of Badaun district. When she didn’t return home, her family members spread out to find her. At night about 00:00 hours, the priest accompanied by 2 of his aides carried the injured woman in Bolero jeep and dropped her at residence. After some time, the woman succumbed to injuries.
