Another blow to Mamata: Bengal Minister & ex-cricketer Laxmi Ratan Shukla quits TMC govt

New Delhi: West Bengal Minister-of-State, Department of Youth Services and Sports Laxmi Ratan Shukla resigned from his post in the Trinamool Congress government.

He has also reportedly resigned as TMC district president in Howrah. He however remains a TMC MLA.

Double jolt to Mamata, last month

Last month, Mamata Banerjee got double jolt when heavyweight TMC leaders Suvendu Adhikari and Jitendra Tiwari resigned from the party after long years of association.

Days later Suvendu Adhkari joined BJP in presence of Amit Shah. The political convulsions in Bengal ahead of Assembly elections come as a setback for Didi as she faces a mounting challenge from BJP this time.
