‘Boycott China’ call gathers steam: Delhi hotel association stops booking for Chinese nationals

New Delhi: The simmering anger against Chinese aggression at the Galwan valley has galvanized people to call for boycott of Chinese goods and services, with many burning effigy of Chinese leaders while other setting ablaze their Chinese furnitures.

The clamour to isolate China is gaining steam. Even the trade bodies have also joined hands and are appealing to big businessmen to evict the Chinese products from our markets.

Now, the Delhi hotel association have said that they have halted bookings of Chinese nationals at their facilities. The Chinese nationals would no longer be provided accommodation in over 3,000 hotels and guest houses across the city.

CAIT calls for boycott of Chinese goods

The decision was taken along the lines of the call to boycott Chinese products, during a meeting of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on Tuesday, association president Sandeep Khandelwal said.

“Everyone in the country is protesting against Chinese aggression in their own way. Delhi Hotel Association has decided that we will not allow any bookings for Chinese people at our hotels. We will not allow them to stay at our hotels,” association’s General Secretary Mahendra Gupta told media.

He said, “how can we allow people, who intend to harm our country, to stay at our hotels?”

This comes days after 20 Indian Army personnel lost their lives in a violent face-off with Chinese troops in Ladakh’s Galwan valley, following which several high-level meetings between the two countries were held to deescalate the situation.
