New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presenting her fifth Union Budget in the Parliament, made a slew of announces including increasing outlay & allocation in several flagship schemes like PM Awaas Yojana, Indian Railways and others.

The most notable announcement was change in tax slabs under the New Tax regime. In major relief for direct tax payers, those with income upto Rs 7 lakh won’t have to pay any tax while high net worth individuals will also get some relief.

# Mobile phones will get cheaper as govt has proposed to cut customs duty on certain raw materials for cell phones

# Television and Lithium batteries will get cheaper, customs duty on open cells of TV panels has been cut to Rs 2.5%

# Customs duty on shrimp feed will be cut, making it cheaper

As the cigarette prices are set to be hiked after Sitharaman’s announcement, smokers are having a meltdown which is evident from the trend on social media.
