India's new FDI norms violate WTO principle of non-discrimination: China

New Delhi: India on Thursday hit out at the expansionist China for its highly objectionable remark on Ladakh and has also asked it to reform from commenting on its internal affairs.

Sparking a major diplomatic row, China’s Foreign Ministry said earlier this week that it does not recognise Ladakh Union Territory and Arunachal Pradesh.

In a terse reply, the MEA today told China that India’s position has always been clear and consistent and Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. They are an integral part of the country and so is Arunachal Pradesh.

“Our position on this has always been clear and consistent. The union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have been, are, and would remain an integral part of India. China has no locus standi to comment on India’s internal matters. We hope that countries will not comment on India’s internal matters, as much as they expect the same of others,” MEA spokesperson Aurag Shrivastava said.

Commenting on China’s objections to increasing infrastructure at the Indian side of the border, the MEA spokesperson said that the government is focused on creating infrastructure.

“Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inalienable part of India. This fact has also been clearly conveyed to the Chinese side on several occasions, including at the highest level” MEA spokesperson added.

Another China’s provocative stance that raised hackles

In another statement, China raised the hackles of many as it claimed that India’s growing border infrastructure is the root cause of tension. This came soon after PM Modi inaugurated Atal Rohtang Tunnel connecting Manali and Ladakh and 44 bridges were inaugurated by Rajnath Singh virtually.

On 7th round of senior commander talks, MEA said the two sides have a better understanding of each other’s positions.

He said disengagement is a complex process that requires redeployment of troops by each side towards their regular posts on their respective sides of the LAC.
