New Delhi: Union Minister Smriti Irani on Saturday came out in strong defence of her daughter over allegations that her daughter runs a bar and got the licence issued by fraudulent means.
Hitting out at the Congress for ‘frivolous and baseless’ charge, the Minister said that her daughter was being targeted because her mother speaks about ‘Rs 5,000 crore loot by the Gandhis’.
Addressing the media this afternoon, the firebrand BJP leader refuted and dismissed all claims of her daughter running an illegal bar in.
“2 middle-aged Congress men want to character assassinate an 18-year-old girl. Her only fault is that her mother talks about Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi,” the firebrand MP said.
She further said that her daughter is not a politician and studies in first year of college.
“My daughter studies in college. She does not run a bar. Check the papers. Where is my daughter’s name? I will seek answers in the court of law and in the court of people,” she said.
She also challenged the Congress to send Rahul Gandhi to Amethi again.
“Hum phir Rahul Gandhi ko dhool chataenge (We will defeat Rahul Gandhi once again),” she said.
The Minister told the press that she will send legal notices to Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Khera by this evening. The Congress leaders had alleged that Smriti Irani’s daughter Zoish were allegedly running a restaurant in Goa and it was running on a fake licence.
