Did Cong ‘lift’ theme song of Ex-Pak PM Imran Khan for its poll campaign in MP?

The video of purported ‘similarity’ between the two songs was shared by BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya. As it appears from the song, both songs seem to have similar lyrics or at least a part of the song shows ‘stark resemblance’.

New Delhi: An alleged link between the theme song of ex-Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s party and Congress party’s election campaign in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh has ignited war of words between BJP & the grand old party.

The BJP on Monday claimed that Congress ‘stole’ the theme song of Imran’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) for its ‘Jan Aakrosh Yatra’ in the poll-bound state.

The video of purported ‘similarity’ between the two songs was shared by BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya. As it appears from the song, both songs seem to have similar lyrics or at least a part of the song shows ‘stark resemblance’.

The ‘baseless’ charge by BJP drew sharp reactions from the Congress, which termed it a shoddy ‘saffron trick’ to discredit its political rivals.

Hitting back at BJP, the Congress claimed the Pakistani song was copied by Dushyant Chautala, the Deputy Chief Minister in Haryana’s BJP government, and similarly in Rajasthan (for the poll campaign).

BJP claimed that ‘Chalo, Chalo Imran Ke Saath’ was replaced by “Chalo, Chalo Congress Ke Sang Chalo Chalo” for latter’s Jan Aakrosh rally in Madhya Pradesh. Kamal Nath-led Congress is set to undertake Jan Aakrosh rally from September 19, at 7 places in the state.

MP BJP unit secretary Rahul Kothari launched a scathing attack on tall leaders of Congress in the state and slammed it for heightened state of appeasement politics.

“Cong’s Rajya Sabha member Digvijaya Singh was missing from the poster of Jan Ashirwad Yatra, “but he is giving the background music”, Kothari said.

Notably, the Congress launched the “Chalo, Chalo…” song on September 17.

In the run-up to Assembly elections slated for year end, both the leading parties are trying hard to woo the electorate and lashing out at it each other to gain that ‘extra edge’ in state polls.

Shivraj-led BJP govt, facing years of anti-incumbency, has been making overtures to the electorate with poll promises & sops.

On the other hand Kamal Nath-led Congress has raised the pitch and announced many poll promises but the fresh controversy over its song ‘stolen’ from Imran Khan’s theme song is expected to keep the electoral pot boiling for next few days.
