Dog remark: BJP demands apology from Mallikarjun Kharge, he says “maafi maangne waale log…What role did you play?”

As demand for an apology triggered chaos in the House, Vice President and Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said the remark was made outside parliament.

New Delhi: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today demanded an apology from the Congress over the party’s president Mallikarjun Kharge’s controversial comments on Monday.

Kharge made the remarks at a rally in Rajasthan’s Alwar while he was hitting out at the NJP for mocking former congress Preiset Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra as “Bharat todo (Divide India)”.

Kharge also slammed the BJP govt for not allowing discussion on the border clash with China in the Parliament.

Following his controversial statement, the Bhartiya Janata Party has demanded an apology from the Congress president.

Kharge response to BJP apology demand:

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge while responding to BJP’s apology demand in the House said that he made the comment during Bharat Jodo Yatra in Rajasthan’s Alwar was outside the House. He said there is no need to discuss his remark in the House. Kharge also said he can still say that BJP had no role in the freedom struggle.

He also said, “They are ‘maafi maangne waale log’…What role did you play?”

“I said Indira Gandhi & Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed themselves. Who among you gave your life for unity of this country?,” he said.
