Facing likely expulsion, Mahua Moitra gets new role in TMC; made district president of Krishnanagar

TMC leader took to social media platform X today and informed that she was appointed as Krishnanagar’s district President.

New Delhi: While the Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra faces likely expulsion from the Lok Sabha over ‘cash for query’ charges, she got a firm backing from her party today. Mahua Moitra was on Monday made the district president of West Bengal’s Krishnanagar (Nadia North).

This comes at a time when the TMC MP finds herself ‘isolated’ from within & outside the party and makes desperate attempts to deflate charges against her.

While Mahua Moitra appeared before the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee and forcefully put her side of the story in cash for query scam, her party maintained distance from her by staying tight-lipped. Her charged outburst after questioning by Ethics panel did no good to strengthen her case either.

Meanwhile, the TMC leader took to social media platform X today and informed that she was appointed as Krishnanagar’s district President.

“I am thankful to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for appointment,” she tweeted.

Notably, the Ethics panel headed by Chairman Vinod Kumar Sonkar has recommended her disqualification from the House in view of cash-for-query charges against her. A report was submitted, seeking her resignation, to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Prakash Birla’s office on Friday.

She lashed out at the Ethics panel recommendation and called it a ‘fixed match’. She claimed that the panel didn’t listen to her side and rather put the proposal for direct voting.
