Farmers Protest LIVE Updates: PM Modi says Oppn 'misleading farmers over MSP', reminds Cong of their unfulfilled MSP promise
New Delhi: Day after Congress workers set a tractor on fire while protesting near India Gate, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it an ‘insult to the farmers’. The Congress has planned to observe October 2 as ‘Kisan-Majdoor Bachao Diwas’ and hold dharnas across India on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi has asked party-ruled states to explore the possibility to pass laws under Article 254(2) of the constitution “to negate the anti-agriculture central laws encroaching upon state’s jurisdiction under the Constitution”. The protesters have been squatting on rail tracks since September 24 in Punjab’s Jalandhar, Amritsar, Tanda, Mukerian and Ferozepur.

# For years these people (opposition) didn’t do anything to empower our security forces. Air Force kept asking for Rafale but they never listened to them. When our govt signed a contract with France Govt for Rafale aircraft they started having a problem: PM Modi
# Today these people are misleading farmers over MSP. There will not only be MSP in the country but also the freedom for farmers to sell their produce anywhere. But some people are unable to tolerate this freedom. Their one more medium to earn black income is finished: PM Modi
# They are insulting the farmers by setting fire to the machines and equipment that is worshipped by them. For years, they said that they will implement MSP but they never did. This was done by our govt as per the recommendation of the Swaminathan Commission: PM Narendra Modi
Farmers can now sell their produce to anyone, anywhere. But when centre is giving farmers their rights, these people are opposing it. They don’t want farmers to sell their produce in open market, they want middlemen to earn profit. They’re opposing the freedom of farmers: PM Modi https://t.co/H5mNHgRe7K
