Farmers suspend tractor march to Parliament, next meet on Dec 4 for chalking out strategy

The decision to postpone the tractor march by farmer unions comes after Prime Minister withdrawing the controversial farm laws in a televised address.

New Delhi: Two days ahead of the Parliament Session, the farmers have decided to shelve the tractor march proposed on November 29.

Farmers had announced to take out mega tractor march from Delhi’s border to Parliament, to celebrate the anniversary of farm protests.

Kisan Sanyukt Morcha, in its meeting today, decided to defer the tractor march and open doors of talks with the government. The same was announced by farmers in a press conference by farm leaders today.

Kisan Sanyukt Morcha is the umbrella organisation spearheading the year-long protest.

The decision to postpone the tractor march by farmer unions comes after Prime Minister withdrawing the controversial farm laws in a televised address. A bill to formally revoke it will come for passage on 1st day of the Winter Session.

Kisan Sanyukt Morcha has called another meeting on December 4 to chalk out further course of action and also strategy to pressurize the government for ensuring MSP guarantee.

Earlier in the day, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar urged the farmers to end the ongoing agitation and return to their homes.

He also announced government’s decision to decriminalise stubble burning, which means farmers burning crop residues on their farm land won’t face punishment/prosecution.
